Fundraising Frequently Asked Questions

We know that purchasing from Heartland Growers can be a very overwhelming process for new customers.  Please select from the categories below to find the answers to our FAQ's.  If you still can't find the answer, please feel free to contact someone in our sales department for additional information.

What are the ideal conditions for poinsettias?

Poinsettias grow best when they recieve a minimum of 6 hours of indirect sunlight per day.  Plants should only be watered when soil is dry to touch.  Ideal temperatures are between 68 & 70 degrees.  Do not expose to temperatures below 50 degrees and keep out of cold drafts.  Do not fertilize plants when they are in bloom.

Are poinsettias considered poisonous to humans or animals?

Poinsettias are not poisonous to either humans or animals.  If the leaves are consumed, they may cause an upset stomach.  Some individuals are also allergic to the serum that is released if the stems are broken.  They traditionally will have a slight rash as a result of this.

Is gold my only pot cover option?

Yes.  We only offer gold pot covers on our poinsettias.  You may purchase individual pot covers in other colors but they will NOT be pulled in any other color.

You may also order plants without a pot cover.  They will only be sleeved.
